What Happens During A Routine Footcare Appointment With Our Foot Specialist?

Your feet deserve a check up.  Our customers regularly leave saying they feel like they are walking on air. During the appointment you can have a consultation and if required your feet will have a full assessment, if possible, our foot specialist will treat any minor conditions that you have, such as:

  • Corns removal

  • Consultation

  • Calluses

  • Dry skin removal

  • Hard skin removal

  • Infected toenails

  • Ingrowing toenails

  • Fungal infections such as athlete’s foot

  • Any foot problems associated with diabetes

Our biggest tip is to think about your feet in the same way that you do your eyes or your teeth. You regularly visit the opticians or dentist to check that everything is in working order – even if you don’t have any concerns. Our HCPC Podiatrist can catch any potential conditions before they start to cause problems, keeping your feet in their best condition.

Additionally, we sometimes have problems with our feet which don’t seem too serious (such as smelly feet, for instance!). Although you might think this is trivial, it might be caused by an underlying condition which could get worse or develop into other, more serious issues if left untreated.  â€‹

On certain occasions, our Podiatrist may diagnose a condition that requires a further appointment to treat, or a referral to another medical professional. â€‹

Here are a few situations when you might need to consider a regular podiatry service:

1. Persistent Foot Pain: If you're experiencing persistent pain in your foot or lower limb that doesn't improve with rest and over-the-counter pain relief, this is a clear sign that you need to see a podiatrist. This could be due to a number of reasons such as plantar fasciitis, flat feet, or other structural issues with your feet. If you experience any of these issues please book in for a MSK consultation.

2. Injuries: If you've suffered an injury to your foot or ankle, especially if it's affecting your ability to walk or perform daily activities painlessly, you need professional assistance. Our podiatrist can provide specialised care to help you recover properly. If you experience any of these issues please book in for a MSK consultation.

3. Diabetes: If you're a diabetic, regular foot check-ups are crucial. Diabetes often leads to foot complications like reduced circulation and loss of sensation, which can cause small injuries to go unnoticed and lead to serious issues. If you would like to check your feet thoroughly because of your diabetes we recommend a diabetic foot assessment.

4. Problems with Walking or Running: If you're having difficulties with walking or running, or you're experiencing recurrent injuries, a podiatrist can help. They can assess your foot mechanics and provide advice or interventions to improve your condition. If you experience any of these issues please book in for a MSK consultation.

5. Foot Deformities or Changes: Changes in the colour, temperature, or shape of your feet can indicate a problem that requires medical attention. Also, conditions like bunions, hammertoes, or other deformities should be checked by a podiatrist. If you experience any of these issues please book in for a consultation.

6. Nail Issues: Problems such as fungal infections, ingrown toenails, or thickened nails can be treated effectively by a podiatrist. If you experience any of these issues please book in for a routine foot care treatment in Cardiff.

7. Corns and Calluses: These can be painful and difficult to manage on your own. A podiatrist will be able to provide the most effective treatment and preventative advice. If you experience any of these issues please book in for a routine footcare treatment.

Remember, the frequency of your podiatry visits depends on your individual needs and health conditions. It's always best to consult with our podiatrist if you're unsure. Regular podiatry visits can play a key role in maintaining your overall foot health, allowing you to stay active and mobile.
